I finished a couple of the newband tunes. They’re crap. Actually…let me go listen to them again.
Ok, they’re not that bad. They just need work.
I lost track of them for a few days while I got back into some music I’m working on for dancers Brian Webb and Nancy Sandercock. I’m excited about this project because I get to write metal and noise. And noise metal. And electronic-y stuff and drone-y stuff, and make it all simple and direct, which was pretty much the direction I was heading in before Brian got a hold of me to see if I was interested.
Brian is great to work with. He’s a total pro and shit just gets done. And he’s always pushing himself creatively, knows when to be playful, when to be intense.
I haven’t worked with Nancy before, but she just sent me a bunch of music so what’s not to like. She was great when we met, and I’m looking forward to working with her.
The music she sent is stuff that’s intended to give me an idea of what they’re thinking will support the choreography. It’s pretty much like the stuff I’ve been writing for them. So, yay. It’s given me some clarity on how far I can go with what I’ve been writing, and still give them something they like.
